Vigerons de l’île de Ré (aka Uniré), cooperative on Île de Ré

The cooperative Union Des Cooperatives Agricoles De L’ile De Re Unire was formed in 1966 from the amalgamation of three other cooperatives, namely the Coóperative Maraîcherie (founded in 1933), the Coóperative Salicole (founded in 1936) and the Coóperative Vinicole which was created in 1950.
Vignerons de l’île de Ré is the main division with about 70 vignerons and 600 hectares of vineyard, of which 300 hectares are planted with ugni blanc. There are no longer any independent vignerons on the island.
Jean-Jacques Enet is ‘president’ of Union Des Cooperatives Agricoles De L’ile De Re Unire and Christophe Barthere is general manager.
