Unicognac, coöperative in Saint-Germain-de-Lusignan
creation date: 2013; last update 2024
- 1959 Under the patronage of Jules Gautret (1847), Unicognac is founded. It emerges from Jules Gautret’s company and the Union des Coopératives de Charente-Maritime.
- 2015 Acquisition of AE Dor. AE Dor becomes an independent subsidiary and continues to be managed by Pierre Antoine Rivière.
- Since the 2000s there is a close cooperation with Charentes-Alliance, in which more than 2,500 winemakers participate. Through cooperation, they try to keep production and marketing costs down, create better storage facilities with an extensive ‘paradise’ and maintain a large stock of cognac assemblages.
- 2015: The partnership with Charentes-Alliance has at some point turned into an acquisition, in which Unicognac becomes a subsidiary.
- December 2015, Charentes-Alliance and Coréa Poitou-Charentes merged to become Océalia. Unicognac and AE Dor remain relatively independent subsidiaries.
- 2017 The Unicognac name is replaced by Jules Gautret (caves).
