STAUB

The Staub firm was established in 1858 by Auguste Staub. They merged in the 1890s with Gonzalez and Co. and made cognacs with the brand names Gonzelez & Co., Gonzlez, Staub & Co. and A. Staub & Co. For an emblem they used the Gonzalez emblem.

Auguste Briand travelled a lot and made his brand known in many countries in Europe. He also exported widely to Asia and Africa.

René Briand was director from roughly 1923 to 1940. He was probably married to a Staub daughter. Briand also had his own brand of cognac.

Today, Staub is part of the Spanish group Altosa Distilleries and focuses on making cognacs and brandies for other brands. They do still make and sell their own cognac, but under a different brand name: François Premier.
