Philbert, cognac producer in Étriac
Maison Philbert is a family-owned company dating back to 1808 with vineyards in the grande and petite champagne.
For some time the Precigout family owns the company. Most likely, Philbert was inherited to Precigout through the female line.
In 2006, brothers Xavier and Pierre Olivier Precigout took over the business and called themselves Philbert Brothers. They expand and triple the vineyard. They now have 120 Ha of vineyards. Around 2015, they started to innovate and adopt a cask finish with sherry and sauternes barrels in imitation of whiskey.
The original range was (blends of grande and petite champagne): VS, VSOP, XO.
Today (2021): Rare cask Finish, Sauternes (petite champagne, aged 4 years); Rare cask Finish, Sherry Oloroso (grande champagne, aged 4 years); Dovecote; Distiller Reserve (grande champagne, aged 4 years); Distiller Reserve (petite champagne, aged 4 years)
