Michel Bureau, bouilleur de Cru in Guimps (petite champagne)
[Not to be confused with Didier Bureau in St- Sulpice-de-Cognac, borderies.]
Victor Albert started his vineyard in Guimps in 1893 and built an alambic in 1914. Victor Albert was Michel Bureau’s grandfather. His fathers name was Alphonse Bobin, so the company was inherited twice via the female line.
Nowadays the sons of Michel Bureau, Jean-Luc and François, are in charge, together with Ghislaïne.
Although Gilbert Delos mentions in his book a grande champagne vineyard, they seem to have only one vineyard in the petite champagne: only petite champagne cognac is being produced on the estate. Starting 1993 they also produce an XO quality.
Update September 2024: Jean-Luc’s son, Olivier Bureau, now works in the company.
Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the house or domain. So if someone could help me with that …
Range: (petite champagne): ***, Napoléon, VSOP, Vieille Réserve, XO, Le Secret, Le Mystere. The last two qualities are very old.
