Brugerolle, brand of Compagnie de Guyenne in Cognac, former merchant and distiller in Matha.
Brugerolle is part of the CDG group (Compagnie de Guyenne). It is the brand name CDG uses specialy for their older cognacs.
- 1812 Jean Cornet establishes his company in Matha, a distillery.
- 1830 Jean Cornet associates with his nephew Jean Brugerolle, who is a son of Jean Cornet’s sister. Later on Étienne Brugerolle, a nephew of Jean Brugerolle, also joins the company.
- 1847 Étienne Brugerolle gains control of the company since both Jean’s do not have any offspring. He calls the company Brugerolle. 1847 Is usually considered the date of establishment of the Brugerolle firm.
- Then it is Guillaume Leopold Brugerolle, son of Étienne, who calls the company Distillerie de Matha Léopold Brugerolle.
- 1987 Brugerolle goes together with CCG (also known as CDG and best known for its Meukow brand). At the time it was Brugerolle who assisted Michel Coste when establishing his CCG group and even today the Brugerolle family has an important role at CCG. Claude Brugerolle is married to a daughter of Michel Coste.
The Brugerolle family owns vineyards in the Borderies and the Fins bois regions, but these do not belong to the CCG company. The Brugerolle company used to buy cognacs of the Fins bois, the Bons bois and of both Champagnes. The company produces mainly blends, but they have made a Grande champagne cognac as well.
Managing director of CCG is Philippe Coste. Claude Brugerolle is vice-president of CCG and managing director of Brugerolle.
