Grosperrin, merchant in Chermignac

 

Jean Grosperrin used to be a broker in cognac. He acquired a lot of knowledge and had a lot of connections. In 1992 he decided to start his own company to sell rare and old cognacs under his own name. He bought these cognacs from family companies and other warehouses. Usually his cognacs are from one vineyard and from one year, but sometimes he produces a blend.
His company is called La Gabare.

Meanwhile he has been succeeded in 2004 by his son Guilhem has. In 2012 they bought the chais of Martineau in the city Saintes, because they outgrowed their building in Chermignac.

Gamma: they have a fast changing offer because the series they produce are limited and usually numbered. They are named after their Cru-name and year.
They have on offer several ‘treasure’, like at the moment a Grande Champagne no. 24 (exact age not known); Grande Champagne no. 22 (blend of some very old cognacs with the Grande Champagne no. 24); Petite Champagne no. 14 ‘Paror’ (probably distilled during the First World War and certainly older then 1918).
