Jacques Painturaud, bouilleur de Cru in Segonzac (grande champagne)

[not to be confused with Guillon-Painturaud, just outside of Ségonzac]

Family company who started winegrowing at the end of the 19th century. Hippolyte Painturaud was the first. In 1934 Jacques-Guy Painturaud started to produce his own brand of cognac and pineau. After him it was Jean-Guy and today´s owners are Philippe and Emmanuel Painturaud, who are of the fourth generation. They possess 25 hectares of vineyard, of which most part is planted with the ugni blanc variety together with some colombard and montils. For making pineau they also grow some red grape varieties. Their present cognac range is made completely out of ugni blanc grapes.

They age their cognacs in casks made of Limousin oak.

Gamma (grande champagne): VSOP Duo, Réserve, Vieille Réserve, XO, Hors d’Age, Génerations, Secrets de Famille.

(Update June 2019: another 13 hectares of land has been bought, so now they own approximately 40 hectares)

(The logo of Painturaud is the same as that of the nearby Guillon-Painturaud, so they must have the same ancestors.)
