A colombard is a grape variety, used for cognac.

The chaudière is the actual pot still. On top of it sits the chapiteu, the hood of the pot still. Out of the hood emerges the col de cygne, the swan’s neck; the serpentin is the spiral tube which extends from de swan’s neck.
